Advice Needed - Coast Starlight or other Amtrak trains

We are booked on the Coast Starlight from Emeryville to Seattle on September 6. We have received our tickets - but they seem to have very little information on them. For instance in Australia the major trains have carriages numbered 1 - and you stand at the relevant numbered area on the platform to board. Does this happen with Amtrak trains? or will there be someone to guide us??
Any relevant information will be much appreciated.

In Emeryville Amtrak employees are very helpful, they will answer all your questions.

Amtrak is not so organized in advance, but when you board the train, the very nice Amtrak personnel will get you right to where you belong. I've taken the Coast Starlight in California (LA to San Jose) and would love to read a trip report when you return. Have a wonderful trip--Seattle is a great little city to visit.

Thank you Faina and Kam for your replies - I am reassured now that we won't be expected to find our way without help!!
I will certainly post a report when we return. We are also visiting San Francisco, Vancouver & then the Rocky Mountaineer to Banff. Then on to Calgary and Chicago - so will have lots to report on!. Thanks again.

Dear Prue: We traveled this same route, but had a sleeper car as it is a long trip. Included with the sleeper car are all your meals, plus they have a very nice afternoon wine and cheese party. If you do not have a sleeper, consider making reservations when you get on board for dinner in the "dining car". It fills up fast, but is a memorable experience.

Sandy,
Thanks for your reply - but yes we do have a sleeper, and are really looking forward to the trip.
