advice for Wicked tickets in New York
Hi--we're coming to New York in April 2005, and I'd like to get tickets to Wicked. Looking at the Ticketmaster website, tickets were available in rows B, D, F, etc., in Orchestra; these seem really good to me. Too good? Too close? They were in the side sections, not the center, but they don't appear to be on the very ends, more in the middle of the side sections.
What do you think? Should we jump on these? I'd love to hold out for the lottery, but seriously doubt that my luck will be good enough to be chosen for that!
thanks for any advice.

In a perfect world, center orchestra would be better. However, since you don't give that as an option, I'd go to row G or H. It's a large theatre, with a big cast and lots of action going on, including high up, so you don't want to be too close or you'll lose the effect.
Another suggestion is to call Ticketmaster directly. Although there are many advantages to online ticketing, sometimes you do better talking with a human. For example, you might find that you can get center orchestra further back, but the website might not give you that as an option. Give it a try--you have nothing to lose.

Msmiller - you will love Wicked! We saw it last week with our 16 year old daughter. I also tried the ticketmaster website and didn't like the process, so called for a human as has been suggested. (We only bought our tickets 2 months before hand so selection was not the greatest) I choose the balcony to get center seats - I wish I'd picked the floor on the side. The balcony is kind of far back and I think you'd do better to be able to see the faces closer IMHO.

We saw Wicked and sat in row L or M (can't remember exactly). I wasn't pleased when I was booking but when we arrived and sat down we realized they were great seats because of how large the theatre is and the way the floor slants. I would say in an ideal world, in that theatre, with that show you'd want to be between G and L and in the center.
Skip the upper mezzanine area. You end up being too far away. You can't see the faces as clearly and the expressions add a lot to the show.
Hope this helps some!
It is a wonderful show!
