Advice for quick trip to DC in June

Hi---
I will be traveling to DC at the end of June for a convention and will be staying at the Omni Shoreham. What is the best (cheapest, easiest is that possible?!) way to get from Dulles to the Omni? I know it is on the Metro Red Line near Woodley Park. I am pretty adventurous so don't need alot of fluff just good directions.

Also, I plan on skipping out on some of the convention type dinners and would love to find some hip/funky/artsy places to dine and browse (reasonably priced if possible) fairly close to the Omni. Any suggestions?

Thanks--any other tidbits of advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Cheapest would be the shuttle from the airport directly to the Metro station. That's the orange line and you will have to transfer at Metro Center onto the redline headed northwest. Omni is about two blocks from the Woodley Park Station (a lot closer than Woodley Park). Pulling luggage is no fun but the trip is otherwise fairly easy. The shuttle bus from the airport to the DC hotels may be a bit easier but also considerably more expensive $40? maybe.

As for eats. You'll be a 10 minute walk to Adams Morgan. Walk across the Calvert Street bridge to 18th street below Columbia Rd. Your be overwhelmed with hip/funky/artsy places to dine and browse. There is also the "Adams Morgan - U Street shuttle" (also called route 98) that leaves woodley park metro every 15 minutes 6pm-midnight Sunday thru Thur and 10 am-2am on weekends. Shuttle costs 25 cents. This will also take you to some cool spots on U st.

The cheapest way is to take a metro bus to L'Enfant Plaza. There you can get the metro to Woodley Park. Definitely cheaper than taking the shuttle, which I think is $8 one way to West Falls Church.

Unfortunately I don't have details as to where to pick up the bus or how often it runs, but I'm sure someone else will.

The CHEAPEST .. hitchhike, but next cheapest is the Metrobus/Metro, for $3.25 (or less offpeak). Go to:
http://rideguide.wmata.com
and use the parameters From: DULLES To: WOODLEY PARK M and you find times, changes and costs. If you click on my name above and search previous posts, you should find some other options for getting to DC from Dulles.

There are quite a few good places to eat on Connecticut Ave right across from the Woodley Park/ Zoo metro stop. The hotels in the area cater to quite a few conventions, and you will find a wide variety - Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, Italian, etc. Also take the metro to Dupont Circle for browsing and shopping.
