Add the Staten island Ferry, and/or a boat tour of the harbor. You should do something to get a good view of the Statue of Liberty, even if you don't go to the actually statue.

I regret not getting a good enough look at the art deco Chrysler building.

I lke the Museum of Modern Art better than the Met, but your own tastes come into play here.

And I'd add a genuine NY deli to my list; for me, the Carnegie is very good, and fun, and interesting.

The Manhattan location of the Museum of Modern Art is closed long-term for remodeling; there's a MoMa in Queens but it is disappointing unless there's a special exhibit (like the recent Matisse/Picasso show, which was unbelievable).

Have you researched Coney Island? You might want to skip it.

The met museum is great but HUGE and takes an enormous amount of time and energy. Consentrate on one area.

Frick museum for some lovely art and it is small and quaint.

Gugenheim and Whitney Museums are great.

Tenement Museum: There is a fabulous museum called the Tenement Museum on the lower east side I went there a few years ago and loved it. They have preserved an actual old tenement building and you tour it and learn a lot about how these people lived.

Radio and Television Museum is fun. You can look up any old TV or Radio show and watch 5 of them.

Radio City for a show of at least for the tour itself of this great building.

Ellis Island is a must. Have been there twice and find it very moving especially if you have had relatives come thru it. Have fun. I'm gong in December for a long weekend and have tickets for some events. Shar

I would skip Coney Island. It takes a long time to get out there and in October there's not that much worth going for.

Maybe a tour of the United Nations?
