Advice for last 2 nights in Maui
 

Hello! Planning 10 year anniversary trip to Maui at the end of November, which will be our first time in Hawaii.

We'll be there for 10 nights, and I have 8 booked. We are starting at Wailea for 5 nights, then Hana for 3. We are in condos for both spots, as we like having a kitchen (both of us are veges).

Is it at all reasonable to think I could get a short term rental last minute in or around Paia? If not a condo/rental, any decent accommodation options there? We've been keeping it around $300/nt.

Any other suggestions if that doesn't seem reasonable?

Another option a short drive away is a charming B & B that is a historic plantation home in a beautiful setting:

There are rental units at Mamas Fish House, but I think they might have a minimum stay requirement: mamasfishhouse.com

The "rave reviews" on Paia Inn are very suspect. On Trip Advisor, people have complained about the touting that that place seems to be promoting.

I have never stayed there, but I know where it is. Behind a gas station in the middle of town. It might be OK, but it does not reach any of the stellar comments that one-time posters leave. Buyer beware.

I have always wanted to stay in those units next to Mama's. I think I could eat my way through their menu. After taking out a loan to pay for it all.

Placename: Good advice on the Paia Inn. I drove by it in August and wondered what all the excitement was about. I thought the best aspect was having a place to park...hard to find a parking spot in Paia!

Just a thought, check that any B&B type place or other private rental has a proper permit from Maui County if it's outside a designated resort area. They are now enforcing the (new) law and you don't want to pay $$ in advance and end up with nowhere to stay.

You're asking about two nights, most places (other than hotels of course) seem to have a three night minimum but in this economy it doesn't hurt to ask :)

I ended up getting a reservation for two nights at mama's fish house, looks great! Now I have to wait 1.75 months to go :-(
