Advice for a hotel & sandy beach in Clearwater/St. Pete area with small kids.

I am looking for advice on where to stay or not to stay in the Clearwater area or one of the beach areas within 30 minutes drive. I have a 4 and 2 year old. They want a pool and a really nice sandy beach.

I have a friend that just renovated a small home for rental in St.Pete! I did some of the artwork in the house. It's set-up for small kids and even has a small pool. It's also very close to the beach (10 min.). I am not sure what the rent is but you can look it up at this web site:www.capalborentals.com. It's the resort homes section, #29940. Good luck!

Possibility: Il Tucano at Treasure Island - small motel - family owners on-site - new pool - across street from white beach - about $80 per night - kitchen, LR, Fla. room, etc. - old fashon but nice. Convenient parking. 727-363-7808. Ask for Julia. Have fun in FL.

I have lived in Clearwaterfor 15 years and I vote for Clearwater Beach, specifically the north end of the beach. There are condos for rent, specifically one on Idlewild Drive. They may even have a website by now. Also right next dooris the Haddon House, they are little apartments right on the beach. Both have pools. My kids prefer the pools to the sand too! Good Luck!

I vote for Clearwater Beach as well. the town of Clearwater is not not so nice and just that a city (no beach atmosphere) Clearwater Beach is actually on an island with nice resorts and condo and a good beach.

However, a little further down the coast and more expensive but beautiful are Sarasota (lots of condos) and we love Long Boat Key (the holiday inn resort there is not too expensive)

Clearwater Beach should suit your needs. I stayed at the Sheraton there a few years ago and found it to be very nice. Nice pool and right on the beach. Also has nice tennis courts overlooking the ocean.

Another vote for the Sheraton Sand Key. You might want to check out www.flausa.com for additional information.

Hope this helps.
