advance theater tix?
 

We have narrowed our choices to Frankie and Johnny...and Thoroughly MOdern Milly, late november. Seems to be ticket availablity, my question is do we risk 1/2 price tickets on arrival or do full advance. THanks.

Frankie and Johnny has a limited run through December. I was at the 1/2 price ticket booth a few times over the weekend, Frankie and Johnny was not on the boards Thursday, Friday, and Saturday for either matinee or evening performances. Thoroughly Modern Millie was available at the 1/2 price ticket booth only for a Saturday matinee. Of course things change daily, and I was in NYC over a holiday weekend, when it constantly rained, so possibly that is what led to lack of availability.

Those shows are fairly popular so iffy for day of discounts. ALso realize, not all discounts on the TKTS lines are 1/2 price. They can be anywhere from 24-50% off plus a per ticket service fee (i think $3). You can check for advance sale discounts on Playbill.com, hitshowclub.com and theatermania.com although I don't think there are discounts to those shows. The chances for discount tickets for Frankie & Johnny anytime are slim to non-existant. If you mean Thanksgiving weekend when you say, "late November," your chances for getting Millie tickets are slim. For dates there is a chance. I'd advise getting tickets now for either.
