Adult getaway not too far from Baltimore, MD

The time has finally arrived that both of our kids will go for one week to a sleepaway camp. Thus, we're looking for an adult getaway that's within one to two hours from north of Baltimore or the MD/Delaware border (that's where the camps are).
We're looking for:
reasonably romantic (i.e. not too many kids from too close up); great food; outdoors activities (pool, tennis,); some hills or mountains would be great for cycling for husband (need reasonably deserted country lanes), some spa service would be great for wife.
Any suggestions?

Annapolis covers most of your bases--except maybe the country cycling part.

There aer several nice B+B's in the area. www.bramptoninn.com is great for a quiet retreat. I'm sorry I can't help you with the activities portion. Chestertown does have a lot of quaint little b+b's though.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. Any ideas perhaps for Pennsylvania or Delaware? We really need some hills :)

How about the Turf Vallet resort near Ellicott City?

How about Atrim 1844 inn in Taneytown www.antrim1844.com. I've heard good things about it but never been myself.

Except for the hills part, St Michael's on the Eastern shore is great and very adult. There are lots of flat cycling roads and it is very quaint. Lots of tiny towns to visit like Easton and Oxford. St Michaels has some great hotels. There are boating and water activities on the Miles River as well as the Chesapeake.

For hills, you may want to try further north to the Poconos.

Also, interested in this question. Lisa, can you recommend a place in the Poconos that's "grown-up"? All I have heard of are the honeymoon resorts. Are they as cheesy as they look or a tiny little bit sophisticated and/or fun?

If you really want a NICE place, check out the Greenbriar in West Virginia. It might be a little far for you, but it's worth it. The rooms are beautiful, furnished with antiques, and the spa was rated #2 recently, behind the Four Seasons in Maui. I know from personal experience that the hotel services, including dining, are top-notch. You're already in the mountains and they even have LandRover excursions for 4-wheeling. Ah, I could use one of their herbal wraps right about now...

The resorts in the Poconos are beyond cheesy. We went and had a fun weekend, but we knew going in that it was campy and cheesy and fun.

Which one would you recommend?
