Adirondacks
Hello,
We would like to visit the Adirondacks end of September - just like sooo many others! Would appreciate suggestions for lodging and cafes in the Jay, Upper Jay, Keene, Willimington and Lake Placid areas. Looking for a peaceful setting - foremost, with some woodsy charm. Any ideas for us? |
Lake Placid Lodge..........Outstanding.............

Thanks for your information Ike! Perhaps we could afford a couple nights at Lake Placid lodge but might you have any suggestions for a lower priced alternative?
|
Mirror Lake Inn is wonderful! I have stayed there in summer and it is beautiful, has great food, wonderful caring staff and lots of great activities. Restaurants in Lake Placid are fun and varied.

I am looking for a place for this Saturday in Brant Lake, NY anyone know of a clean/inexpensive place?
|
travelbug - I would start a new thread with title " Accomodations needed ASAP in Brant Lake NY" or words to that effect rather than hoping someone might see it as a tag on to this thread.
|
sorry travelbug- just saw you already did have a post with Brant NY in title.
|
trying all my angles. Thanks

Ooh, I am jealous! It's so beautiful there. We rented a house in Keene Valley, and I'd recommend doing that if you can.
We ate very well at the Brown Dog Cafe in downtown Lake Placid. It's not cheap but the food was excellent. A little further afield in Saranac Lake is a very delicious and very inexpensive Mexican joint named Casa del Sol. I didn't care for the Baxter Mountain Tavern in Keene. The food wasn't great and the host (this was last summer, so maybe he's gone) was a jerk to both patrons and staff. Enjoy your trip. |
