I notice they advertise a lot, which makes me wonder if it's good...many of the places in the Adirondacks that are really good are always booked up by people who go there every year. But, I really don't know. I've never been there. Been lots of other places in the Adirondacks though.

Thanks. I hope it's nice, it cost enough!

Hello,
I've never stayed, but I have spent the last three Thanksgiving's with them. I would most certainly recommend. Anything else, please let me know.

I'm trying to plan a romantic 2 night stay in the Adirondacks with my wife - and have heard nice things about Blue Mountain Lake as well as Saranac Lake.

Does anyone have any B&B suggestions in either of these towns or near them? I was looking at the Hemlock Hall Lodge as a possible choice but can't tell from the website if it's a nice place or not.

Gilber: I like the Irondequoit Inn on Piseco Lake. The inn is quite charming. A couple of rooms have private baths. Some share - but the bathrooms are numerous and big and clean. While their beach is nothing fancy, there is nice hiking around there and really good kayaking. The nearest town, Speculator, has a restaurant that is wonderful - Melody Lodge. If you are going this summer you better get reservations now. Stayed at the Hemlock YEARS ago. Don't remember much about it. Might be a lot of kids. All this is pretty far from Ithaca though...

The Wawbeek is pretty nice, although expensive. It's been a while since I've been there. I've stayed in winter and in summer. But I prefer Hemlock Hall on Blue Mountain Lake. Like the Wawbeek, it's an old Adirondack Great Camp, with a main lodge building and surrounding cottages in the woods and on the water. They serve a set menu of meals, and you go up to eat at the main lodge when they ring the big dinner bell. Service is family style, passing around big platters of corned beef, turkey, or chicken. Good food, pleasant conversation. The kids easily made friends with other kids and played board games with them in the cozy common rooms of the main lodge in the evening. There's a nice beach, kayaks and Sunfish, loons calling at night. We always stay in one of the housekeeping cottages, preferably one on the water. Blue Mountain Lake is a pretty little lake, and the area is quiet and not developed a lot. The Adirondack Museum nearby is a lot of fun on a rainy day.

The Harbor Hill Inn and Cottages looks great. Haven't stayed there yet but spent lots of time in the Adirondacks. Their website is www.adirondackvacations.com
