Activities in Fishermans Wharf Area?

We will be spending one night in San Franciso on our way to wine country over Memorial Day weekend and will be staying in the Fishermans Wharf area. We have never been to San Francisco so we are looking for things to see and do while we are there. We are also looking for good seafood if you have any suggestions!

Hi Kristy...the best way to enjoy Fisherman's Wharf is to walk it from one end to the other while taking in the view, shops, people, and street performers...along the way stop and pick up chowder in a sourdough bread bowl and other seafood items to enjoy as you stroll along...try and take a cable car ride, too.

You can also do the alcatraz tour if you have the time.

For some of the best seafood dine at Scoma's at Pier 47. Be sure to have the cioppino (chip-ee-no), a fish stew invented by the Italian fishermen who emigrated to SF years ago.

he Fisherman's wharf area is very touristy, but still fun. Don't miss the pier where all the sea lions hang out. also take one of the boat rides out in the harbor. The ones that actually go to alcatraz are often booked several days in advance!

Don't miss Scoma's!! It's an event, and the food is good as well.

Native

For seafood with an Italian slant and very good flavor, try Cafe Pescatore in the Tuscan Inn. Some of the best seafood in SF is not at the Wharf. You could easily dine at Aqua, Swan Oyster Depot, Yabbies, Crustacean or the Hayes Street Grill for great seafood. A very pretty view and fairly good seafood can be had at McCormick and Kuleto's at Ghiardelli Square. Enjoy your day in SF and be sure to make reservations well ahead at any of the above restaurants. Memorial Day is busy.
