Came upon this website who gives really good prices on all activities, however we will need to attend a one time, one and a half hour timeshare presentation. We will be in Kauai and Maui, and we only need to go to one presentation to recieve discounts on both islands. Sounds like a great deal, but is it too good to be true? Can anyone provide some feedback? Thanks in advance.

Do you mind spending the time in a time share presentation? Can you say no? lol

I have done this before for free trips. My MIL even did it to get a weekend at a new resort in Vegas, but she came home with a timeshare there!

Actually, I have had family come to visit and they did the Activites-4-Less presentation for deep discounts. They did the morning presentation up in Lahaina, had free coffee, fruit and pastries for breakfast, and were out of there by maybe 10 am. They watched a film, saw a model and then said, "No thanks." But they were booking a lot of activities and they saved quite a lot overall. It's all relative to you and your situation.

I don't know about the specific one you are talking about, but time shares often offer a lot of bonuses for attending a short presentation. We did this when we went on vacation in Whistler and almost bought a timeshare. They are really good at making a pitch. Go armed with information on how long you have to cancel the deal, just in case....

A lot of people would probably advise against it because the timeshare pitches are usually high pressure and use quentionable tactics, including outright deception.

The best place to begin is to check with the BBB, which I have done for you and it appears this particular company maintains satisfactory status with them. 2 complaints total since 2002, both concerning credit/billing and both resolved.

I didn't see anything on their website about the pitch by the way, altho I didn't really take a good look either.

er.. that's questionable tactics. just make sure you can say no as the first response suggests.

oh everyone, I am so touched......THANK YOU for all the answers and research......when I spoke to the rep there she was very nice. But then again, I sound liek I am 18, so I tends to not trust people at first! Thanks so much. I think this would be agreat way to save some money for dinning out!! Thanks....=)

CPT: If I can add my two cents here, DO NOT GO!!! Hubby and I got suckered into this in Lahaina on Maui last year, to save some money on several activities, and it was sheer torture for me. We were told an hour to hour and a half presentation tops; turned into nearly 4. Were promised "breakfast" and got some fruit and coffee. All I could think as I was sitting there, listening to these impeccably groomed people yammering away about saving money, was that I spent thousands of dollars to be in paradise for a week and was gypped out of a whole precious morning of it for a heavy-handed sales pitch. We kept trying to just get up and leave, but as soon as we'd do that another salesperson would pop up and take us gently through the whole spiel again. It was beginning to feel like a cult....

May I make a suggestion? I'm not against timeshare presentations as we own at Marriott, but if you really don't want to sit through the presentation, try the A3H gold card. check out their website at aoagold.card.com, buy their card for $30 and then book directly with all their members for a discount. The site shows every activity you can do. This is how we are booking many of our activities for our October trip to Maui. The discounts may not be quite as big, but you'll save yourself some time and can book before you go.
