activies- book before we leave or wait till we get there?

Aloha

My husband and I will be in Hawaii in May. I hear things about discount coupons in the brochures and magazines you pick up at the airport but was wondering if that is true. Should we book things such as sunset sails, captain beans cruise, Don Ho show before we leave or are there discount coupons we should wait for? We will be spending on week on Maui, 6 nights on Oahu, and 5 nights the Big Island. Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

Check with both your travel agent and the hotel where you're staying -- many have discounts available if you book activities up front that are much bigger than the ones you find in airport travel magazines.

I agree with carlo! Then after getting that information i would look at activity agents , like activity wharehouse and many others. I would probally not book till i got to the islands because may if your to be there early may is not the most crowded time of year. But if you want to do something say first day of second then i would book ahead of time , and if going to the ola lahuna luau i would book ahead of time. nick

I am not using a travel agent, I did all the arrangements myself on the internet. We are staying in condo's in Maui and Oahu. On the Big Island we are staying at B/B 2 nights in Kona and vacation rental 3 nights b/t Volcano and Hilo. We have already booked the Old Lahaina Luau and PCC as we will be going at the time of the fire knife competition and wanted good seats. Other things we are interested in our sunset cruises, captain bean's cruise, Don Ho show, and snorkeling trips. None of these we will do the first day or two. We will be in Hawaii May 6-25. Thanks for the advice.

There are a number of booths as you walk along the boulevard in Kona, offering discounts on all kinds of things. Many of these are time-share outfits - you have to sit through a time-share presentation in order to get the discount coupon. Some of them, however, offer the same discounts without the time-share provision. If you're careful, you can save quite a bit of money on the things you want to do. We did go to one time-share thing, which we regretted doing - since we had absolutely no intention of buying a time-share, it didn't feel right. I don't think I'd do it again.
