Active Volcano?

Hello. I am going to Waikiki for a few days in August for my honeymoon and a groomsman just told me that there is an active volcano on the Big Island and that I can probably catch a cruise from Waikiki to see the volcano at night. Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks!

Newspapers have been covering the current eruption; however, google Big Island Volcano and go to the NPS website for current stuff. Right now, you park at the end of a formerly closed road, and walk a brief distance to view the lava entering the sea. Or, you can go to Volcano National Park and see the giant crater and currently very active vent; no lava, buts lots of action.

I have never heard of a cruise but you can go by plane and do a helicopter tour over the volcano area as a day-trip to Big Island from Waikiki.

Lava boat tours are available on the Big Island, suggest contacting link for transportation options from Waikiki.

It is 200 miles from Waikiki to the Big Island. No cruises to see the volcano.
