Active funfor teens, RESORT for mom and dad

We are looking for a resort to visit in August that will give our teens other teens to hang out with and lots of activities. We (the parental units) are looking for some fun and some relaxation. We've done all of the parks and just want a place that we can find something for everyone on-site. We are into water sports, golf and night life. Any suggestions? Have been considering Tradewinds in Clearwater and maybe Captiva or Sanibel. We prefer the gulf coast but would consider the Atlantic if the resort is good.

If you're limiting your options to Florida it would be helpful to say so.
If you designate your message as a Florida message when you enter it, there's no way for us to tell that just by reading your post.

If you'd want to go as far as the Keys, Marathon has a resort complex called Holiday Isle that might help you all out.

Would you consider Atlantis on Paradise Island in the Bahamas?

Cindy,
Could you tell us more about Holiday Isle? We're also a family with teens and want to go somewhere in the states this summer that will please us all.

Think about a cruise. I did a Princess last year and it had something for everyone. Especially the teens. I've always found that resorts tend to have programs for the little kids but not the teens. Anyway you might want to check it out.

Holiday Isle is primarily a party place for rowdy young people and college kids. My guess is that your teens would LOVE it, but that you probably wouldn't! I've never heard it described as a place for R&R! Another option is Cheeca Lodge in Islamorada.

If you want to go on down to Key West there would be lots of options, but because space is so limited there, there aren't any real resorts. The closest thing to a resort is probably Casa Marina...it has the biggest "beach" in Key West and is the only hotel with tennis courts. The only problem is the location, which isn't particularly convenient to tourist activities and/or restaurants. There are lots of things to entertain both young and old in Key West, and I think it'd be a fun vacation for you and your teens.

Yes, primarily looking at Florida, but won't rule anything out if it sounds good.
