Across country drive
Hi,
We are moving from Florida to Reno, Nevada. Since we have pets we plan to drive. Has anyone made this journey and can give me some idea of the easiest route to take? Looking at I 40 or possibly I 80. I read that 80 gets filled with semi's. Also, concerned about driving through the Rockies. We need to find pet friendly hotels or rent a camper. I'm looking for suggestions if anyone has had this experience. Thanks.

La Quinta Inns are pet friendly, moderately priced, have hearty breakfasts, and are pretty common on much of your route. I can't stay in them because I am allergic to dogs and cats, but if you have a reasonable number of pets, they would probably work for you.
If you take I-40, you don't have to cross the Rockies.

I-40 to Kingman AZ. US 93 to Las Vegas. Stop to see Hoover dam right after you enter NV crossing the big bridge.
US 95 through Tonopah from LV.
Fill the gas tank in Las Vegas and again in Tonopah.
Tonopah has the US's scariest motel. All the rooms have clown art and it's next to an old cemetery.
