accomodations near Zion, Bryce and Arches
 

We are planning a 10-14 day trip to the Zion, Bryce, Arches and the Grand Canyon in August.We would like to find accomodations with kitchen facilities. Also, we would welcome any suggestions for preferred itineraries. thanks

Moab has a couple of hotels to chose from, and it's a nice central location.

Moab is not really a close drive on a daily basis to any of those parks..We did that trip 3 yrs ago starting in Moab but only stayed there to see ARCHES...Lots of driving! From Moab we went to Capital Reef NP and stayed over in a a super quiet, beautiful lodge called BOULDER MTN. Would have liked to have stayed another night. From there we headed to Bryce, been there before so we just did a couple stops..From here onto Zion. Stayed at the DESERT PEARL for 2nights. (right next to the park) and wished we had spent the whole trip here instead of driving for hours! Left Zion & headed for the north rim of Grand Canyon staying at Jacob Lake for a night. Had a great cabin booked on the N.RIM for 2 nights. UTAH is very HOT in Aug. so any hiking should be done very early a.m...same with the CANYON! HOT! Fires closed alot of roads when we were there. We headed back thru Monument Valley and back to MOAB and I-70 East

We did this trip last August going from Las Vegas to Zion then Bryce then the GC. Before we went to the GC we spent the night in Kanab, Utah. We joked to our 14-year-old that we liked it sooo much that we were going to retire there. This is an old western town that actually was the backdrop for many a Western movie. It is small but accomodating. We stayed at a hotel that had a breakfast, no kitchen. But I see there are some home rentals:

There was another hotel in the city that looked really interesting. Many a movie star had stayed there during Kanab's heyday. Unfortunately, there was a power outage on the one side of the street and we didn't check out the room because it wasn't available. But you might do a search for it on google.

You could also rent a houseboat on Lake Powell, which is right there on your way to the North Rim of the GC.

As you can probably tell from a map, there isn't much between Jacob's Lake and the North Rim. You should book a place at the G.C. ASAP!!! There is one lodge just outside the GC though I can't remember the name of it. Anybody know?

Our family did this trip last June. Started in Sedona (awesome) then on to the Grand Canyon north rim - stayed at the lodge which was okay. On to Zion which we LOVED. stayed at a great place named Flannigans near the park entrance. Great little town with some decent food. Kind of artsy. On to Bryce Canyon which was other-worldly! Very cool. Also spent a day on Lake Powell. We make a stop at Kanab and can't remember the name of the quaint little mom and pop restaurant but all were quite kind and they had killer mile high chocolate pie!!!!! Have fun!

Ditto that chocolate pie -- the restaurant is a cowboy name, no? Known for its' chicken-fried steak. And those pies, of course.

The quaint little restaurant is HOUSTONS...best chicken dinner ever!Jacob Lake Lodge is on the road into the N.rim, and the big lodge inside the park offers rooms, cabins, etc...but make reservations fast! Lake Powell houseboats also need to be reserved EARLY..very $$$, and lots of preparation...
