Accomodations near University of Pittsburgh
Any suggestions for where to stay for a one day visit U Pitt? Priceline has these hotels in the "University Park" area - Holiday Inn Select, Residence Inn Oakland, Wyndham Garden, Courtyard Shadyside.
Here's the thing though - I don't want to pay for parking. All the Priceline hotels seem to have $17/day and up parking fees. Is there an area a little farther out where I could park free and drive in to U Pitt for the day? (Of course I don't know how visitor parking on campus is either...) Thanks for ideas. |
for one day....suck it up and pay for parking, PITT is an urban campus, thus parking on campus can be a pain. stay at the holiday inn select, it is right next to the campus. The residence inn is nice, but just a bit to far to walk. i am a PITT alum (BA and Masters) originally from DC and i loved living in pittsburgh!

I would just pay the parking also. It is way easier that way. Oakland is a nightmare to find a parking spot in. If you want to stay anywhere near it you still have to get a bus or take a taxi which is an additional cost like the parking you will pay. |
Thanks everybody. If we stay at Holiday Inn will we be able to walk to the campus easily? Thanks again!

You're a quick walk down Fifth Ave. to the main part of Pitt's campus (and the lovely Cathedral of Learning) from that hotel. Parking on the campus was awful when I attended (I graduated in 1985)-- I can't imagine that it could have improved. Suck it up and pay for parking at the hotel.
