Accomodations in Moab and Glenwood Springs
 

We will be flying into Denver and drive to Moab. Can you recommend an overnight stay in hotel/motel in Glenwood Springs? We are also staying three nights in Moab. Any suggestions for hotels/motels? Is it worth to spend the money for the Sorrel Ranch? How far is it from Glenwood Springs to Aspen and is it worth to take that side trip for an evening in Aspen. Thanks for your help.

I haven't stayed at any of the hotels in Glenwood or Moab, but they both have most of the major chains. Holiday, Quality, Best Westerns, etc. You can usually get some kind of discounts AAA, AARP, airlines mileage, etc. Glenwood has some cute B&Bs in town as well.

Aspen is about an hour from Glenwood, but in the opposite direction from where you're going. So you'll be adding 2 hrs of driving, plus any time spent there. Vail might be a better mountain town stop. You'll be driving through Vail to get to Glenwood anyways.

Hi - We just got back a few weeks ago from a week in Moab. We stayed at Red Cliffs Lodge. It isn't as far from Moab as Sorrell. The room fit 2 adults and 3 kids fine. There is a sink, microwave and fridge in the kitchenette. We ate breakfast in our room every day. The only negative to the resort is the restaurant. We tried it for dinner once and were very disappointed. In fact the resort refunded our dinner cost.

The 3 hour trail ride we took at the resort was great. I will check this posting again to see if you have additional questions about Moab and Red Cliffs.

We stayed in the Best Western in Moab. It was well located but not impressive. I recall having to fight to get an extra pillow. It was OK. The pool was small. Moab itself is a tiny town. You exhale and you'r out of it.

Last summer, I stayed at the Best Western Canyonlands in Moab and in retrospect, I'd say it was just okay. It was a good choice at the time because there were 5 of us in the room, and the sleeping arrangements worked out well. My parents really liked the Comfort Suites in Moab last fall.

In Glenwood Springs, there's 2 landmark hotels that might be worth comparing to the chains- Hotel Colorado and Hotel Denver. I've stayed in both and they are very nice and have a little more atmosphere than the chains. Both have websites, so it should easy to compare. One note- the Hotel Colorado may offer package deals for a certain price. We booked one of those for 3 days, 2 nights(for $320) and it turned out to be $320/night. What a shocker when we saw the bill! It was our fault for not checking, but a little misleading on the website as well.

The Hotel Colorado is more expensive, but it has a lot of history and is neat to visit, even if you don't stay. It's right across from the hot springs pool, and they might have passes to the pool if you stay there. The Hotel Denver is across from the train station, on the other side of the river from the hot springs pool. It's nice, but more like a regular hotel.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Glenwood Springs and enjoyed it. It is a fairly new property with breakfast included.

We stayed in a Comfort Inn in New Castle last year on our way from RMNP to Moab. New Castle is about 9 miles past Glenwood Springs. It was nice enough for one night with queen beds, an indoor pool and hot tub and breakfast. We paid $72 which was cheaper than what I could find in GS.

In Moab we spent three nights at the Confort Suites on the south side of town. The rooms were large with queen beds, indoor pool, hot tub, fridge and microwave in room, good breakfast. I would definitely stay there again. $89 a night.

Moab was great. Have fun.

Thank you all. We decided against Aspen and will probably stop in Vail for lunch. Good suggestion. The Sorrell Ranch wanted over $200 per night, nothing with it and non-refundable. Teh Comfort Inn was not too helpful with activities. Well, maybe it was the desk clerk's bad night. We booked the Archway Inn in Moab. The rooms looked nice on their website and they gave us a good package with white water rafting and horseback riding. It will be a site to see, my 65 year old husband fullfilling his childhood dream of pretending to be John Wayne. I will check into the suggestions about the accomodations in Glenwood Spring. Thanks again.

We stayed at the Archway last summer and were pleased with it. Rooms were good sized as was the pool and the A/C worked well! It seemed well maintained and the people at the desk were friendly. It's not a luxury resort, but we weren' looking for that. Hope you like it!

We also stayed at the Aarchway, but in October for three nights. Nice sized room, clean, and a better than average continental breakfast. Large pool. It was a good stay.
