Accommodations near Frederick
 

Has anyone stayed at the Antietam Overlook Farm? Just wondering if it's fairly close to see the main attractions around Frederick. I've seen some of the other inns people have recommended but we're not really looking for small Victorian B&B's. Open for other suggestions for a 2 night stay

I grew up in Frederick but haven't been back for about five years. I'd say it is roughly a half hour from Antietam to Frederick.
I'll have to admit that I'm not sure what are the main attractions around Frederick (Hood College, Fort Detrick, Barbara Fritchie House?), but there are numerous motels. If it still exists, the Red Horse Inn might be OK. When I lived there, the restaurant was one of the best in town.

I recommended the Red Horse Inn before. I stayed there for one night and it was sufficient if you don't like alot of amenities. I posted their 800 but Fodors deleted my thread - guessing they don't get any financial kickback from them so why have my thread giving too much information. They can be found in Frederick website.

Sorry, I haven't stayed at Antietam Overlook Farm..... but just for clarification, Pipers Farm is not a Victorian B&B. It's more of a living history museum with very knowledgeable hosts; books, and other reference materials are also available for your purusal during your stay.
