Accommodations for Skiing on Mt. Shasta CA
Our family of four is thinking about going to Shasta for skiing this winter (we live just north of San Francisco). Has anyone been skiing there before (downhill or cross country, we ar interested in both) and if so, where have you stayed? It would be our family of 4 or maybe me (mom) and 4 kids (our girls and one friend a piece). We are looking for a place near the downhill and cross country ski areas. Preferably one with a kitchenette or kitchen so we can eat breakfast and make our lunches. We would be there for 4-5 days.
Thanks:). Jennifer |
The town of McCloud is closest to the Shasta Ski Park. The ski park website lists some of the neaby accommodations, including motels in the town of Mt. Shasta and even Dunsmuir (which is farther away).
The best option there for you looks like this little 3-bdr. house in McCloud: http://www.theoldmillhouse.net/index.html It sleeps up to 7, for $125/nt weeknighs, $150 weekends/holidays. |
We were in Mt. Shasta last June and stayed at the Mt. Shasta Resort. It was very nice, but not sure how convenient for skiing.

Thank you. Both options look good for us. I just need to get out a map and figure out where the skiing (downhill & cross country) are.

The Nordic ski area is on the same road (Ski Park Highway) as the Alpine/snowboarding section. You pass the cross country parking lot maybe 3/4 mile before hitting the Ski park lot.
Ski Park hwy runs off Hwy 89. I'd personally stay in Mt Shasta - but McCloud would be OK. |
