Accidents spoil a great vacation

I just wanted to remind everyone to please be careful while vacationing. I am a nurse at a hospital in a VERY touristy beach town and catch the incoming ER visits.... We have multiple spinal fractures from adults on a rented jet ski jumping waves....car wrecks galore....lighting strikes while on golf courses/beaches are more common than you think....drunks hit by cars while crossing the beach roads....people skipping medicines and having problems....heat stroke/exhaustion...ect.....I am not trying to play mommy to everyone, I just wanted to wish everyone good health and have a great/safe time!! Thanks!!

Ditto on the jet skis. Those things are dangerous for inexperienced riders. Parents, when your teen begs to rent a jet ski, put some steel in your spine and say NO.

Thank you Nursie, you are so right. A little caution can prevent a lot of tragedy.

I just remembered something I saw written on a shopping bag once which was quite profound and germane: <BR> <BR>"Better to lose a minute in life than a life in a minute: Drive carefully (and excercise precaution in general)"

Agree with "be cautious". Everybody knows that the Bay area is a great vacation destination, but what you don't hear unless you live here is the increase in fatal car accidents and head on collisions. Yesterday there were two fatalities and one head on. Over the weekend numerous boating mishaps.I'm sure this happens in most every vacation destination.

My thanks, also, Nursie. In addition to the heat stroke/exhaustion, would also like to stress sun protection. When traveling in hot weather places, I always see people who are so incredibly sunburned -- they must hurt for days and days. Why oh why? <BR>

Not to mention dehydration-especially for people doing physically strenuous activities; carry water, because by the time you feel thirsty, you're already dehydrated.
