Acadia NP in September, a brief trip report
My Husband and I, along with our 6 month old cairn puppy, spend last week hiking in Acadia NP. This wasn't our first visit, but it was our first in September. I highly recommend it- crowds are down and the weather is great!
Some restaurants we tried and liked: George's Maggie's Classic Scales Lompoc Brew-pub Trenton Lobster Pound Morning glory bakery Bagel Factory Cottage Street Bakery We stay at one of the many cottage-type places along Rt. 3. Last week, most seemed to have at least some availability, another plus of traveling in September. There is nothing better than hiking up a mountain and finding a good spot to eat a sandwich and look at the view-best seat in the house! Then returning to your hotel to shower and go to a nice, but casual restaurant for a good meal. Acadia and Bar Harbor are perfect for that type of vacation. I don't think we'll ever tire of Acadia- there are still plenty of hikes we haven't tried, and we look forward to our next trip. |
Just in case anybody is reading this, I forgot 2 other restaurants:
Jordans (on Cottage St., for breakfast) Jordan Pond House in Acadia for tea&popovers |
Dear Elberko-Thank you for the info. Do you think our little Bijon will enjoy Bar Harbor? We rented a log cabin from Aug 15 to Sept 11. Thank you.

Thanks for the restaurant recs! We are going in high season, early August. Can't avoid the crowds then ;-)! Judy

citiboy50- Don't know what your Bijon likes! Our doggie loved spending the day hiking. By the end of the day he was pooped and slept in his crate while we went out to dinner.
Judyrem- The crowds won't bother you if you're out deep in the park during the middle of the day and avoid BH proper. |
Elberko-Is it safe leaving the dog alone in the house. Are there many buglaries there? I mean this seriously.
