ABQ Food + Petroglyph National Monument
I grew up in Albuquerque, but I haven't lived there for at least a dozen years. I'm wondering what the good restaurants are these days? In my day, Garduno's was pretty good, El Patio, the Frontier, Il Vicino, Double Rainbow (now Flying Saucer). Anything newer, or are those still top-notch eats?
Also, is it worth the trip to see Petroglyph National Monument? |
The restaurants I have really enjoyed most in my 12 trips to ABQ in the last 3 yrs:
Zinc Wine Bar in Nob Hill on Central Ave. Excellent food and presentation, great value too. Artichoke Cafe. I eat there on every trip. Very good, creatively prepared, fresh food. La Scala, also on Central Ave in Nob Hill. Pretty solid and Mon. all wines by the bottle are half price. |
My favorite is Jennifer James 101 - absolutely delicious.
I also like Artichoke Cafe and their more casual restaurant Farina's (I'd match their pizza with any!) |

Hi,
All of the places mentioned above are all good; are you looking more for "locals" food rather than higher end places? Garduno's is pretty much history, tax issues with state. I have 2 lists with my favorites [and they have added on comments by others]: http://www.fodors.com/community/unit...tnms-picks.cfm http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/565...s;results_list Petroglyphs won't take too much time, I would go if you have time. I much prefer Tent Rocks, which will reopen 9/12/10 . http://www.blm.gov/nm/st/en/prog/rec...ent_rocks.html As my name indicated, I live near ABQ and would be happy to answer any questions and give you a "local"slant".
