? about the Diner in 50 First Dates movie

I know this is a wierd question, but my OD and I were watching that movie today, Fifty Fist Dates, with Drew Barrymore and Adam Chandler. That diner in the movie is gorgeous, or I mean the views are. I also didn't catch on which island the movie was supposed to take place.

Is there such a diner? In the movie it was called the Hukilao? Next time I go to HI, I would love to have waffles there. Or is it a Hollywood set of Hwy 1?

Did you try doing a google search??? I would type in something like 50 first dates set location

It may take a bit of searching, but you will find out if it's a "real" place or not.

PS..I was looking for the the St. Barths hotel from Along came Polly. I googled it and found out that it was not the caribean at all but the Turtle Bay Resort, Oahu. You can also try looking at the movie credits.

Hope this helps!

Rent the dvd and watch the extras, in one of the interviews they talk about rebuilding the diner set in California to reshoot complete with fake backdrop & computer views, but I can't remember if they said the original was real or not, I didn't think so.

What is an "OD?"

Annabel, I was also wondering where that movie was filmed because I knew instantly that the island they show as St. Barth's is WAY too big to actually be St. Barth's. My husband and I laughed when he drove past the sign that said, "St. Barth's Airport, 25 kilometers," or something to that effect. St. Barth's is only about 8-square miles. :D

Thanks for the info on the "real" St. Barth's in "Along Came Polly." I figured it was somewhere in Hawaii, but wasn't sure.

I too have been working on OD for about 15 minutes and still haven't come up with a logical phrase.
Obvious deviant?
Often date?
Original dingbat?

Yes, OD is oldest daughter. YD is youngest daughter, YS is youngest son, SO is significant other, DH is well, open to interpretation. Didn't we have a post on that? Darling husband...most of the time. Any others we need to clear up?

There is a real Hukilau Cafe in La`ie, but the one in the movie was built at Culver Studios. A good friend of mine was a compositor on "50 First Dates." Most of the interiors were shot in Culver City with CGI added.

This is the link to the International Movie Database's info for the movie. The site www.imdb.com is great for looking up where most movies were filmed. Look under "Other Info: Filming Locations" on the left hand side of the screen after you search for a movie.
