About Franklin Museum in Philadelphia

Hello everyone.

Me and my wife are planning a one-day visit in Philadelphia.
I should note that we are both around 28 and this is our first travel to the United States.

I would like to hear your opinion about the Franklin Museum as a tourist attraction.
As I looked in the museum site (www2.fi.edu), I couldn't decipher if the exhibitions are intended for adults or for kids.

Please help me.

We were just there last week. There is indeed a lot of "children's" exhibits there, but there is Cleopatra exhibit that is spellbinding! You can get tickets to see just this part of the Museum for evenings [if this will work for you]"

Evening Pricing
Thursday - Sunday Only for 5:00PM tickets or later. Final entry at 7:00PM.
Adults: $19.50
Admission to CLEOPATRA only. Other Museum areas close at 5:00PM.

While we did look around at some of the other exhibits, they really weren't of much interest.

We did a tour of City Hall that we really liked, it's 1.5 hours long, M-F at 12:30pm only; it includes a tower tour where you can get a great 360 degree view of the city.

We also went to the Mutter Museum, it was very different. We really found it to be quite interesting:

We were at the Franklin last month and really enjoyed the visit. There is plenty to do for both adults and children, we really enjoyed the Cleopatra exhibition. Having said that, that was our 8th visit to Philidelphia and we finally made it.

On a first visit, I would visit all the historical attractions and the Museum of Art before the Franklin. If you were staying 2 or 3 days there would be time for the Franklin, but not on a one day visit. Enjoy.

Philly really has so much to do. We spent an entire day at the museum. We found Betsey Ross' house very interesting and you don't need much time to see it. It is a nice glimpse into Colonial America.

I visited the Franklin Institute on an evening when admission was free (it was a "pick one museum" special night in Philly). Even at that price, I didn't think it was worth a visit for an adult -- just too much of the exhibits were developed for children. For a first visit to Philly by adults, concentrate on the history, art, food, and neighborhoods.
