AA/Kelloggs Free Freq Flyer Miles Promotion
My husband won 25,000 miles, and so did I! wondering if everyone who entered the contest won free miles.
|
Nope. I submitted my Kellogg's certificates and only got 300 AA miles. Congratulations. Strange that the two of you both won.
|
Contest? What contest? Is it over? Tell us more, orangetravelcat...
|
I think it's very strange that we both won (but I'm not complaining). Here's the link for the contest:

My friend in America has been entering everyday and has not won. Congratulations!

There is a long discussion about this on flyertalk.com. It appears to be a computer glitch or some kind of a joke(?). The contest started on 4/7/03 with ONE WINNER PER DAY and it's suppose to end on 6/5/03, after there are 60 winners. On flyertalk.com, there are about 50 "winners" that received the same e-mail this morning.
|
The list of winners is growing on flyertalk.com. I believe it's up to about 100 now, and in some cases the family pets have won as well(just kidding), but I would not be making any vacation plans yet, as it seems doubtful that this is the real thing!
|
Just curious and NOT being combative. But why would it not be the "real" thing? I went to the link listed above and the entry only wanted my name address dob.Seems like they just want a new mailing list.

BeachBoi,
The sweepstakes is legit, but e-mails started to arrive since yesterday morning to just about anybody that entered the contest(at least the members on Flyertalk.com) informing them they are winners. Some people got as many as 4-5 e-mails. According to Kelloggs.com there will be ONE WINNER PER DAY, starting on 4/7 and ending on 6/5, so according to my calculation there should only be about 20 winners so far with another 40 in the next 40 days. As I said there are about 100 winners on Flyertalk.com already and that's just since yesterday morning, and as much as I love the board, I also know that we are a small minority of people that entered the contest, so it's either a hoax(personally I believe that's the case), or some sort of a computer glitch. Again according to Kelloggs there will ONLY be 60 winners total. |
I, too, got an e-mail yesterday saying I had won 25,000 miles. I thought it was legitimate. However, today I received two more identical e-mails. I'm thinking it may be a computer glitch.
|
check your frequent flier miles on line and see if they've increased by the amount that you've won. Better yet, call Advantage and see if they've been added to your account.
|
The e-mail states it will be 6 to 8 weeks before you receive your prize.
|
Well, I'm certainly bummed out. I checked flyertalk and it looks like everyone in the world got the email saying they won the miles. Since this can't possibly be the case, I guess I better not count my miles before they're hatched....or something like that.
|
Well it looks like Kelloggs and the redemption company that's running the sweepstakes is looking into this. According to some reports it appears that it's some sort of a computer glitch. They said to reply to the e-mail if you received one, and they will decide in a day or two what if anything will be done about this.
Good Luck! |
I`ve haven`t been able to get onto te promo for the miles..it keeps showing a blank screen..so I guess there something wrong..

Here is the text of the Channel 3 television news report in Western Michigan:
When it comes to free prizes, the Kellogg company may have bitten off more than it can chew. A promotion intended to give "one" winner a day 25-thousand American Airlines miles... seems to be flying off course. Apparently, a "lot more than one person a day is receiving notification that they've won. And that has the so-called winners a little confused. Kellogg's officials were trying to track down the reason for the error today. Chris Ervin, of Kellogg's public relations department, says the company determined that the email was sent out to many people mistakenly, because of a technical error. Many contest "winners" have logged their concerns on a frequent flyer message board. Today we chatted online and the phone with people in Wisconsin, Texas, and here in West Michigan...they were all notified via email over the weekend that they'd won the Kellogg's promotion. They said they were disappointed to hear that many others were told the same thing...and they wondered where that left them. Some say the've contacted the company, and haven't gotten any answers as to whether they're going to get those 25-thousand American Airlines miles. But they will soon. Kellogg's plans to email the 'actual winners' and also send an apology to those who received false notification that they'd won. But they do get a consolation prize ...500 miles for all those who received that email in error. |
Well, here is the official reply from Kelloggs.com:

We got our "you are not a winner" emails. What a disappointment. If we had initially received emails telling us we'd won 500 miles, we would have been pleased, but after thinking we'd won 25,000 miles, it's a letdown. Oh, well, so it goes.
