AA connect flight time question

I'm considering booking AA from DFW to LAX in October. Have only used Delta and SWA at DFW location.

My question is 1 hr enough time for my 16 yr old daughter and I to connect to 2nd leg of route? THE AA screen does show terminal change.

Course for $80 more I can stay w/ Delta all the way!
SWA is still an option but we need to get back home on a Sunday pm! SWA PM flights from LAX return are booked.

Suggestions?

thanks!

Are you talking about connecting time AA to AA at DFW? If so, that's enough time, assuming that your incoming flt. is reasonably on time.

I'm a bit confused. DFW-LAX is a straight shot, non-stop. Do you mean:

a. Flying to DFW from parts unknown, connecting to a DFW-LAX flight; or

b. Flying DFW-LAX, connecting at LAX to a flight to parts unknown (i.e., an international flight)?

In case a., that's tight, but it's a legal connection at DFW for all-American connecting flights (if I'm not mistaken). In case b., don't even risk it. Especially if you have to go to LAX's Tom Bradley International Terminal from Terminal 4. It's not far (short walk), but you should give yourself extra time for international flights as a rule.

I apologize if I was not clear -

DFW to LAX is 2nd leg of trip- We would leave from Jackson MS and have 1 hr after landing to board AA also to LA .

SO 1 Hr is enough time with travel in and outbound on AA. I only ask because the reservation screen shows me " terminal change". I was not sure of the distance etc.

Thanks!

msearp, it's probably do-able if none of the flights are delayed.

There's a shuttle train with a couple of stops at each of AA's terminals, although coming out of Jackson, you may be on a smaller plane and I'm not sure which terminal would be used for that leg. The train stays airside, meaning you don't have to go back through security as long as your terminals at DFW are served by the train.

My wife recently connected back through DFW coming from LAX to Memphis on AA and she did it with a 35 min connection and had no real rush at all.

Check your flights on AA.com to see which terminals you'll see and compare to the airport map they have on their site.

You should have plenty of time. My family and I fly in and out of DFW all the time. And the new shuttle train should be good although I haven't tried it yet.

We live 20 minutes away from DFW and one time, it was 50 minutes before flight time when my husband realized he forgot his wallet. We turned around, met our daughter half way and he still made the flight in plenty of time! (He generally always cuts it this close.)

The new train is very fast and very frequent. Makes connection at DFW much easier than it had been. Only thing is that its ride is pretty rough. Grab a seat if one's available.

Ditto about the new train... also there are frequent flights to LA from DFW so even if you are late for some reason you should be ok unless you are taking the last flight.

Uh, SWA flies out of Love Field in Dallas, not DFW. At least for now...maybe all of the Wright Amendment discussions will change that!

But a 1 hour plane change in DFW will be no problem, especially since it is all on AA. Most of the AA flights go out of terminals A and C, and you can either walk between the two, or take the train.

We just flew into and out of Dallas on AA and had about an hour or less for both flights and had no problem making it to the next flight. Good luck!!
