A week in Colorado
My boyfriend and I have booked tickets to Colorado for a week this August and are trying to plan our trip. We fly into Denver and then we are free to go from there. We are interested in anything outdoors (backpacking, rafting, biking), cute towns, other fun things. Any ideas?

We just came back from seeing Steely Dan/Michael McDonald at Red Rocks Amphitheater. We love to take out of town folks here, they are amazed! Stop by the Morrison Inn afterwards (in Morrison) for a cold one!

Hi. For small towns, we love Ouray, Crested Butte, Lake City, and Breckenridge. Outdoors stuff: white water rafting on the Arkansas and ski lift assisted mountain biking, hot springs pools (Glenwood Springs, Ouray), hike to Hidden Lake near Glenwood, 4wd: Yankee Boy Basin near Ouray, Alpine Loop, Kebler Pass.
I'm in the middle of a CO trip report, which I'll add a bit more to now. |

There is lots of info and suggestions on here. To read some of the more recent threads...use the drop down menu in the upper right part of this page and click on Colorado. Or use the search feature next to it and type in Colorado. Both of these should give you lots of general ideas and then once you have a bit of an idea of where you want to go...ask away with specifics. Colorado is a big state, with different things in areas that can be far apart from one another. I am personally inclined to the Southwest corner {Telluride, Durango, Mesa Verde, Ouray} as I have moved here in the past year. Hope this helps... Debi |
