Travel suggestions New York City to Niagrara Falls
We have the opportunity to have a week in New York and would love to travel to Niagara Falls through the countryside from New York.
Are there coach tours from New York?
Could we take a bus?
Train?
I know there is a day flight but would love to see the countryside and prefer not to drive if we didn't have to.
Thanks anyone

You could take the train. I believe Amtrack goes from NYC to the Niagara Falls train station. YOu would then need a cab to get to wherever you want to go in Niagara Falls, or to get to Canada. However, its a long ride, probably in the neighborhood of 10 hours. each way. If you only have a week, you might want to fly from NYC to Buffalo, rather than spend 2 of your days on a train.

The reason most people fly from NYC is that the train takes something like 10+ hours and the drive itself is at least 7 or 8. It's 2 very full days of travel with more time on the road than at the falls themselves. I'm not aware of guided bus tours, but I'm sure they exist. Check with Grayline.

I wouldn't waste 2 days of a trip to NYC in getting to Niagara Falls.
And that's what it will take. Train is about 9 hours, driving the same when you count crossing the border to Canada (where much of the good stuff is) and even flying - you won't have time in one day to fly both ways and see much of anything.
