>> CP is going to be surprised about this news. <<

I'm not surprised because of the economy (there are lots of other signs cropping up in NY), but I did think that theatergoers would like it.
So much for my predictions!

And it's not closing on the 16th; it closing tomorrow.

It's too bad Hair isn't opening sooner as my wife and I are really looking forward to seeing it.

Centralparkgirl Nov 8th, 2008 03:23 AM

andrew8 -Hi - plan ahead and get tix and consider West Side Story, Billy Elliot, and Pal Joey too.

Hi CP,
Where's the best place to get advanced good tickets for Hair??

NeoPatrick Nov 8th, 2008 04:10 AM

Andrew, there is only one place to get "good discount seats in advance" and that is through the official ticket vendor for each show -- presumably in this case Telecharge. Tickets are not on sale yet for Hair. Watch Broadway Box, TheatreMania, and Playbill for discounts -- probably posted soon for previews, then use the codes on Telecharge.

Or when you get the codes go to the theatre's box office in the city and get the tickets to save the fees.

Andrew - I don't believe that there are any tix on sale yet. One way to check when they go on sale is on playbill.com - NOT the discounts, but clicking on 'Broadway' on the left. Often I get good, full price tix in advance of general sale through American Express. I will let you know if I come across anything about Hair.

CPGirl, interesting about AmEx. Everytime I've tried one of those special advance sale offers, the seats weren't good at all. A couple times I've decided NOT to get them, and when the regular seats go on sale, I get much better ones. In fact I recall that once, I didn't get the full price advance sale ones through AmEx, and then the regular ones opened up and I got greatly discounted seats for the same performance that were much better than the original AmEx seat offerings at full price! An agent at Telecharge once confirmed that "yes, the advance tickets for AmEx are very limited". I suppose you can get lucky with them, but I never have.

But Andrew, I'd be pretty surprised if Hair PREVIEW tickets (last half of February) are not offered at discount.

Actually, A Tale of Two Cities is going to close a week early, it was just announced it will end tomorrow, Nov. 9.

andrew8 Nov 8th, 2008 05:01 AM

I'm already getting the playbill updates thanks to Patrick.

CP,
Thank you for letting me know when they will be going on sale. For now I will keep checking playbill everyday for updates.

I haven't been able to find anything about who's in the cast of Hair.

NeoPatrick Nov 8th, 2008 05:25 AM

Andrew, I didn't read through all this, but here's a rather long discussion thread about the recent revival from a discussion board -- BroadwayWorld.

And here's a listing of the cast (if it remains the same):

Thank you Patrick

From what I've read, the cast of Hair will be pretty much the same one that performed this summer in Central Park.

andrew8 Nov 8th, 2008 10:57 AM

Hair should be a great experience for my DW and I as we're want to be Hippies.

Centralparkgirl Nov 8th, 2008 05:49 PM

andrew - you should meet ds1 - if he had been born 30 years earlier, he'd be living on a commune!
