A Summer Adventure
I've been wanting to go somewhere new this summer, but I am thinking I would like to go to the East Coast. I'd really love if I could spend June and July in New York City but I think the best thing for me would be to work for room and board there for the two months that I would stay. Could someone help me find a way to do this or point me in the right direction?

Thank you! I'm from Colorado and a nanny job would be really nice actually. I have a lot of babysitting experience and I'm great with kids. But if I was able to have room and board at a different job that would be fun too.

Hopefully our New York experts can chime in as I can't really think of anything right now that would pay room and board in NYC. The only expection would be a temporary Nanny but I would think you'd have to have lots of references and it would be difficult without local ones. Maybe there is some type of agency you could sign up with but I would think getting room and board would be difficult. Maybe some type of eldercare but again you'd probably have to have local references.

Working as a nanny, esp. during the summer is hard work and you don't get nearly as much time off as you might like. Families that have nannies tend to go out of the city for the summer. How old are you, what do you do in Colorado and why do you want to come to NYC?

I was planning on asking at the career service center at my college to see if they could help me out too. It seems like it would be difficult to go to NYC for two months that way so I might consider taking some time off of school to try and find something a little more long term. I think it would be good to experience a new place and new people. Of course, that would mean putting of college and it's something I would seriously have to consider, but living in New York City would be a great time for me to grow and experience different things. I'll look into being a Nanny though, thank you for the suggestion!
