A steady rain
Hi All,
Has anyone seen "A steady rain" on Broadway with Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig? I have read the PR blurb and often I find the critics a little too critical, so I would be interested in anyone else's opinion. Thanks. |
I saw it recently and enjoyed it. The acting is very good, a compelling drama of two bad Chicago cops and the 90 minutes flies by. The below link is a thread I started about B'way in general. The reason I said that it's not the most memorable drama (in that link) is that perhaps without this cast, this play would not be something to revive years from now. I'm very critical and to me it was very good, not great. Someone else with different standards may say it was great. In summary, strong performances and entertaining.

Thanks Centralparkgirl, yours is exactly the type of comment I wanted.

You're welcome bsg. Both actors do the Chicago accent beautifully. As I mentioned in the other link, immediately following the performance, they raised money for a charity while on stage. They immediately went into their normal accents from England/Australia - it was such a striking contrast to the performances. And all seeming so effortless.

Cpg - I have just read your link and you answered my question about Hamlet too which I am seeing Saturday week. Don't suppose you have seen "Love, loss and what I wore"? That's another one I am cramming into my 2 weeks in NYC along with South Pacific, Rockettes Christmas show, the Philharmonic and Jersey Boys.

I am seeing it, but not until Dec 10th. I'm seeing 'Wishful Drinking' tomorrow and 'In the Next Room' Dec 1st. 'South Pacific' is a great production!
