CD, our family is looking at a week in Indian Springs in June. Can you give me more specific info on your VRBO rental?

I'm not sure where Indian Springs is located. We stayed at Indian Shores. http://www.vrbo.com/24811 But, you can go to http://www.vrbo.com and choose any area and find tons of rentals by owners in any location.

I rec'd great pointers from some people last year about restaurants in the St. Pete Beach/St. Petersburg/Tampa area. Looks like there are some new restaurants around, so looking for pointers again. Thanks.

Could you tell me which condo you stayed at on Indian Shores? My husband, mom and dad and another couple are looking into this area. I checked vrbo and am daunted by all the listings. My parents are in their late 70's so I would like to keep the distance to beach, etc. down to a minimum. Forgot to mention, we are looking into the February 10th to the 15th week.

...and then you get the sugar sand of the northern gulf beaches...

dred07, did you click on cd's link just a couple of posts above? It shows the exact condo (vrbo #24811). Your dates are "high season" and so it may be difficult to find something for that time, but it's sure worth a try!

Nice report, cd. DD went to school with girls who lived on Indian Shores and it's lovely, even if the sand is not "sugar." :)

Sounds as though you had a lovely getaway. December in Florida is one of the best reasons to live there, IMO. :)

wopel, we really enjoy the Indian Rocks/Indian Shores Beach areas. Restaurants I highly recommend:

Guppy's On the Beach at Indian Rocks ... http://www.3bestchefs.com/guppys/

We also enjoy PJ's Oyster Bar, Villa Gallace, and we never miss driving up for dinner at Hellas in Tarpon Springs, the best Greek food I've ever eaten.

The best donuts and pastries, IMO, are at Lighthouse Donuts in Indian Rocks.

You will probably get recommendations for Salt Rock Grill in Indian Shores but we were very disappointed there, food, service and value not at all what we expected.

All of this talk of sunset cocktails on the beach is making me want to take my hubby and go on vaca! Thanks for the "Indian Shores" tip - never heard of it, but we travel to the gulf coast quite frequently.

I think that I would not recommend the exact condo to you that we rented on Indian Shores because although one bedroom was good size the other two were small and with the size of your party I feel you would need 3 decent sized bedrooms. I could recommend a unit I've recommended before 9that is also mentioned above) and that is the Island Inn on Treasure Island. You can get a 3bedroom condo oceanfront with an elevator. Holiday Inn Indian Rocks is a suite hotel. This location is across the street from the beach, but no more than 300 yards to the beach. The hotel is on a canal, half the rooms waterside, request when reserving. This hotel has an outdoor bar with live entertainment nightly, always good. The hotel has a nice pool.

A second for Guppy's, one half mile N of the hotel.
