A place to stay in Oregon Coast
We are planning a 4 night trip to the Oregon coast from Newport going south. We will be staying two nights in Yachats and explore the middle coast from there. We are wondering where should we spend the other two nights for exploring the south coast. Is Bandon a good choice? We want a town with a nice beach and good places to eat. |
Yes, Bandon is probably your best choice although IMO it doesn't have a place to stay that's of the same caliber as Overleaf in Yachats (is that where you're staying there?).
What type of accommodations do you prefer? |
My wife and I enjoyed Rockaway Beach when we visited twelve years ago.

We stayed at a nice Best Western just south of Bandon proper (if you are into chains). http://www.innatfacerock.com/
Adjacent restaurant is nice, but there are plenty of places to eat in town. Make time for a visit to the Bandon Bakery in Old Town. |
Indeed, we'll be staying at the overleaf in Yachats. We plan on staying at the Bandon Sunset Motel. They have some recently renovated ocean view rooms for around 130$ (with breakfast). Sadly, the Lighthouse B&B does not allow kids and we are with a 9-months baby. I read some mixed reviews on the Best Western at Face Rock, so the Sunset Motel looked like the best choice. We'll be glad to get information on this place. BTW, did anyone stay at the Dunes Golf Resort? They have rooms for 200$ (which is OK for us) but I read that if you don't play Golf there is no reason to go there. |
I'm staying at Bandon Dunes, but then again, look at my handle! ;)
From the things I've read, it's really set up for golfers, not so much for anything else. However, depending on when you're going, it may be booked out already. I'd hurry if you want to stay there. |
Yeah, I've stayed at Bandon Dunes a bunch of times, and travelinandgolfin is right; it's all about the golf there. I think you'd be uncomfortable there, especially with your little one. And, except from the golf courses, there aren't any good ocean views anyway!
