a place ot dance in Chicago
C'mon. Take me back to the 1940s (even though I wasn't alive then).

I'm looking for a club in downtown Chicago that has live music that you can dance to -- if they serve good food, that'll work, too.

No head-banging nosh pits. Just a cool place that has a good band and a dance floor.

It's quite small and not much room to dance, but the Green Mill is an old bar/club from the 20s. Al Capone used to frequent and they have GREAT jazz.

Check to see if the Mighty Blue Kings are playing while you're in town. They are a Chicago based swing band that are great live.

We like Blue Chicago in River North. They don't serve food but lots of good restaurants all around the area.

A couple other "musts" in Chicago are: Kingston Mines on Halsted- the best blues in Chicago. Also, for jazz, go to Green Dolphin Street...a bit expensive but well worth it!!!

I second Lisa's idea of Green Dolphin.

Me too - I can't believe I didn't think of it!!! I had such good duck for dinner the last time I was there. It is not downtown though - 2200 N. Ashland. Webster's Wine Bar is over there too which is kind of a nice little place. Plaza Tavern is also nice - like a 40's supper club.
