Thats an amazing plan, I hope people are taking a look at this to see whats possible. This would make the area a true destination that goes beyond mediocrity.

All I have to say is wow!

Though this really doesn't relate to travel at all, its kinda a cool plan. Spread the word.

While it is lovely, I don't know a soul who would rent office space above the 65th floor or so anymore. Super-skyscrapers aren't really economically feasible and actually lose floor space to the elvators needed as compare with slightly shoter buildings. Also, the tallest building looks a little too much like the Empire State and Chrysler buildings.<BR>That said, I really like the memorial plaza and the attempt the plan makes to invigorate the Finanical Distict and keep the site from being to saccharine.

Based on the flm website, the plan was first presented last November so it's not "new". Having said that, I like it far better than the 6 official plans presented last week.<BR><BR>Politics and connections will rule the selection, and considering FLM is a new company founded last year, it's doubtful it will get a chance at such a prestigious project. JMO<BR>

After all the crap with the 6 plans put out by Beyer, Blunder et al. This plan tops those anyday. I really like the memorial plaza. I must say that building the worlds tallest building is a statement. America will not step down! Spread the word on this plan!! Let your voices be heard!!

So, how many of you are game for an office near the top of that tallest building? Any takers?<BR><BR>I'm all for making a statement, but is anyone really going to rent that high up? Would YOU? Be honest, now.<BR><BR>

No I don't think I would. Tallest building in the world? Why do we need that? I can't think of many fellow NYers who would want to work there, not after what we went through.<BR><BR>I saw this plan and it looks too crowded to me, the buildings are all jammed together at the northern end. Also, they talk about "recessing" West Street -- can you imagine what a hellhole of construction that will make? It would take years for an ambitious plan like this to happen. I think it's overdone.

I live in downtown Manhattan, I must say that the plan is intriguing and I really like the memorial. Hopefully some of those buildings could include affordable housing. I like the idea of the tallest building in the world -- we really do need to thumb our noses at those people. Anything less is a sign of weakness. But talk is cheap, and I'm afraid only the foolhardy or Xtreme-Patriots would be caught anywhere around it. So it becomes a dilemma. Maybe doing nothing is the answer, just a world-class memorial and park where people can come to learn and mourn. But then what about a lack of office space?

al, I read in the paper just yesterday that there's a large amount of vacant office space downtown. Lots of big firms like Lehman Bros and Morgan Stanley left permanently for midtown. Building more office space would make the vacancy problem even worse, I think. Now, residential space is another thing entirely .. everyone knows we have a scarcity of that in Manhattan. How to make it affordable though is another dilemma.

These comments do sound very similar, but why would flm be trying to market this HERE?<BR><BR>That said, I do like the profile much better than the boxy things proposed BUT I believe this has the same problem a number of those do: they build in the "footprint" of the collapsed towers, where great numbers of people died. <BR><BR>I wish the architects would get it through their heads that they need to build something "reverent" as well as utility NEXT TO not on TOP OF where all those people died.

I am curious as to where the people who like which plans are from? And if the vision for land use is different if you aren't a New Yorker?<BR>As a New Yorker, I want a tasteful memorial that focuses on prompting private reflection. I like the idea of a pool or grassy area. I don't like the 'pole' in some of the proposals, and I'm not a fan of statues that only protray uniformed officers. I think creating a harmonious area is more important that not building on the footprints of the towers. <BR>I think that the area should be redeveloped, if for no other reason than the memory of those who died. No one can convince me that those lovers of capitalism who made their offices in the WTC would have wanted it any other way.

This "seventh" design is inspiring in a way. Whatever one says, it at least fits within the skyline, and has a theme to support it. Personally, I liked it very much. I'm quite concerned we'll end up with a "committee decision" fitted to 50 plus groups and interests. It will be a workable design, but not inspiring. This seventh one is worthy of attention. It looks from the side like something that would only go up in New york City! That's where it belongs. And to use "liberty" in its title is right on the mark. Trade is a single element of life. This new site needs to be tuned to a larger concept, perhaps one inseparable from America and New York City. Afterall, look at what's right offshore.

I am really glad that people have some comments on this plan. I know this isn't exactly the proper forum for this, but it does affect the greatest city and tourist destination on Earth. I would really appreciate suggestions has to how I can get this "7th" plan out into the Internet for comment. Does anyone know any other websites similar to this? I like the way the plan puts the street grid back into the area. It will unify downtown Manhattan which has to be a good thing. If they didn't build on the footprint of the towers, would they be able to do that?

Gee, I don't know about building the tallest building. Wouldn't it just be an automatic target? I know that I, personally, would *not* want to work there.

I personally think this "seventh" plan is pretty good but, I just wish these plans would consider putting in a museum/theatre to memorialize the people we lost on that day.

I agree with Tommy. Any plan needs to forever memorialize in name or photo those that were lost that day. The same should be done at the Pentagon, as well.<BR><BR>

What a perfect name, having the worlds tallest building there, a great design, a very appropiate memorial! I think all of America especially New Yorkers would embrace this.

The memorial is absolutely beautiful! The only thing I would add is a statue of a construction/trade worker for those that toiled there for so many months, day in and day out, some developing health problems because of it.

Put something very tall to restore our skyline! I'm not talking about office towers (people would probably be apprehensive now in a &gt;70-story bldg) - I'm talking about a structure like the Eiffel Tower, the Space Needle, etc. that will be visible from 50 miles away. The tower itself can be the memorial - the tallest memorial in the whole world. Better yet, build 2 of them.<BR><BR>
