The excellent Boulud, is just a short walk from Lincoln Center. Terrific food, service, and atmosphere.

Cafe Fiorello, an old standby for Lincoln Center patrons. Also, Rosa Mexicano if you like Mexican food, Lincoln , right in Lincoln Center, which is upscale Italian.

I second Cafe Fiorello! The platters of antipasto items are so gorgeous.

By a long mile, LINCOLN is the best of those mentioned. Very, very good.

If it's really any price range, then JEAN GEORGEs cannot be topped. JG, not NOUGATINE.

The Smith is very very loud, and with mediocre food and I say that even though we know the owners. I would not recommend.

PJ Clarke's is American and always consistent, right across the street from LC. I also like Landmarc in the Time Warner Center.

ekscrunchy.. I agree about The Smith. Tho they were very kind to me one day when I couldn't get a taxi after the ballet. Led me to a hard to find bathroom and let me sit with a glass of wine til things cleared up. I think the OP has a child .... so The Smith might be more fun than Lincoln. How bad is Shun Lee West these days?

Masseria dei Vini - great homemade pastas and an excellent wine selection.
