A Message from the Editors: Travel Talk Returns

We're so sorry for the inconvenience caused by the technical difficulties we've had with the forums this week. We've tried very hard to fix the bugs, but unfortunately the software we use to run the entire site stalls when traffic is heavy on Travel Talk.

We're continuing to work with the vendor to solve the problem, but to spare our valued users any further grief, we've restored the previous version of Travel Talk until we can solve the problems with the new one.

Thanks for all your e-mails with kind words of encouragement. And again, we're sorry for the inconvenience.

Yours truly,

Danny Mangin
Editorial Director

Aisling Brennan
Senior Producer

I'm just happy to see it back. I always start my day by checking out Fodors. No wonder I've been kind of out-of-it for the last couple of dyas. I could not get to read up on Travel.

Having software that crashes when traffic on a web site gets too heavy is what I believe the industry calls "a high class problem."

Considering that sites are dying left and right for lack of traffic, Fodors' can hold its head up with considerable pride.

Welcome back.

I've felt like a stung-out junkie looking for a fix the last few days.

I liked most of the updates you tried to install and hope you and the vendors can work out the bugs soon.

Was thrilled to see you back, and thought, WOW! Another new version -- but this one is MUCH BETTER than the last one!

I can see several threads at once listed down the side because the font is smaller; much more of the page is devoted to the whole discussion. Well, thank heavens you listened to us. What an IMPROVEMENT!

Only regret -- Just wish I could "jump to latest post" the way we could before this week.

But then I read your note. This is the old version????? Oh, dear!

Since I was going through severe Travel Talk withdrawl I had to visit my therapist every day! Seriously, keep this version, it runs better.
