A log cabin between Stanford and San Francisco
I appreciate any tip to find a small log cabin n this area and not too expensive for a week in the summer.
Thanks |
What is "not too expensive" to you?
My first thought would be state parks but you are probably all out of luck there. Second thought would be KOA but I really doubt that's what you're looking for. |
Probably doesn't exist. "Between Stanford and San Francisco" is a bunch of suburbs.

When did your request become a log cabin???
Have you done nothing with all the info folks gave you before? (To find all your activity, click on your screen name) |
Nothing will be cheap but there are some rustic places on Airbnb.com , zero in on La Honda which is over the ridge west of Stanford.

I will switch my suggestion from the Pigeon Point Lighthouse to Point Montera HI Hostel. https://www.hiusa.org/hostels/califo...hthouse-hostel
I've stayed at many HI hostels and never had concerns for my safety. Most of them do have large lockers for your luggage. Carry your own lock. |
I've stayed at Pigeon Point for a couple of days but think it would wear thin for a week. Not anything to do with safety but rather lack of privacy. Any hostel other than a private room. But not cheap, better an Airbnb room, having done both and likely about the same per night or less than one in a hostel.

I'm not sure I'd want to stay at Point Montara or Pigeon for a week. Not because of privacy- I've stayed that long in hostels before- but because there isn't much to actively do in the area. Montara would be 3 nights max for me, I think.
You'd be better off camping at a state park or staying at the hostel near Yosemite or in SF. |
Thanks y'all for good tips. I lately am considering a cabin or camping for the solitude reason. I think I will enjoy some days with activities and some days just being totally lazy with a good book. I will look into state parks

Thanks mm for the reminder about the "BUG" hostel on the way into Yosemite. https://www.hiusa.org/hostels/califo...ountain-resort
They have some one room cabins with a shared bathroom in between. There is a YARTS bus stop at the foot of the driveway so you don't have to drive into the park. Check the YARTS schedule. They also have a kitchen building and a small restaurant onsite as well. |
If you and your daughter aren't planning on going to Yosemite after her week at Stanford, you could head there by yourself. It's one of my favorite places to sightsee and relax.
