A great play on Broadway
If you're looking for Broadway play suggestions, the highly-anticipated new play, "August: Osage County" has discount tickets available through the Steppenwolf.org website. I saw the show in Chicago and it's phenomenal. Charles Isherwood of the NY Times has written quite a bit about it, too, if you want to look it up.
I'm looking for other great plays on B'way, so if anyone's seen the new Mamet play or anything else they can recommend, please post some suggestions for me. (I don't like musicals - just dramatic plays.) Thanks for any and all suggestions! (I'll be in New York the week between Christmas and New Year's eve.) |
What about Cyrano? I've heard Mauritius and the Farnsworth Invention are also good.

I saw Mauritius two weeks ago and it was excellent. We also went to the Irish Rep. Co's Sive and it was outstanding. The theater is on W.22nd (maybe between 6th and 7th ave,) We were staying at the Inn on 23rd. and were walking after check-in and stumbled upon the theater. What a find. We are so glad we saw it. The cast was excellent.
In the same area, we had dinner at a small cafe/creperie on 9th Av (183) called Le Grainne Cafe. It was very good. Sorry, just reread your post. Sive will close at the end of Nov. But do recommend Mauritius. Enjoy, CJ |
Thanks, mclaurie and CarolJean, for the great ideas.

I saw the Farnsworth Invention a couple of weeks ago (new Aaron Sorkin play) and I loved it. Not perfect, but fascinating story, with dialogue crackling with intelligence, and superior acting, especially from Hank Azaria.
I hope it gets the good reviews it deserves, it is opening shortly. |
We saw Mauritius last week and really enjoyed it.

Have also heard the Ritz is good fun.
