A friendly remindedr to all US citizens planning on flying to Canada and Mexico

Starting 12/31/06 all US citizens flying to/from Canada or Mexico will need a valid passport.

If you don't have one yet, this may be a good time to apply for one.

Just a friendly reminder.

Good info. I hope the airlines do a good job of informing people when they buy tickets. Of course it's a traveler's responsibility to know the requirements, but this will be a surprise to a lot of people.

I thought I had read somewhere that the requirement has been postponed for another year so that a passport will not be required until the end of 2007.

Great idea. I hope Canadians and Mexicans will need passports as well. Land, air and sea. Hard to believe this hasn't been required until now. I have traveled in over thirty countries and all of them required a passport to enter....except Canada and Mexico. Every country has an obligation to know who is entering.
