A great report, thank you. Concise and yet got the "flavor" of your adventures.

I'm sorry Gus' has closed too. We grabbed pickles and sauer kraut there years ago, and everything was delicious. Does the new place have kraut?

When bff & I were in NYC in September, we took a bus tour of movie sites. BFF had won the trip thru Bloomingdale's and this was part of the deal. It was OK, heavy on Men in Black, Ghost Busters with stops at 2 or 3 places etc. Most of the people on the bus were foreign and big US TV fans. When we crossed Delancy, my friend & I said something about the movie "Crossing Delancy". The tour guide had never heard about this movie!! Of course, he was only about 25. We also told him about the movie "Hester Street". Maybe they will add this to their tour?!

JADSJBD - They do have kraut, and pretty much everything else one might imagine. They also have a Web site -- www.pickleguys.com -- and you can see their whole selection. Delicious stuff!

MichelleY - That depresses me.

Crossing Delancy and Hester Street are two of my favorites. When I was little, my father and I used to roam that area on Sundays when all other stores were closed. This was a long long time ago.

I love seeing Peter Riegert in a movie because we went to high school together (well, sort of; he was two years ahead of me)--he was definitely BMOC back then.
