I should also ask -- when and for how long are you talking about? Most owners hold off until about December hoping to get a three month rental before they'll give in and take one for less than that. If you are staying a full month, your chances of getting something are far better than just for a week, also.
And January is much easier to get than Feb, March, or even April.
