Suggestions for 1 night in Scottsdale
We'll be finishing our Arizona trip with one night in Scottsdale. The morning of our departure, we plan to visit Taliesin West and we will probably have a mid-afternoon flight.
I'd like to keep our lodging under $200 for the night (there will be just two of us), and am looking for a small property. I know there are many chains that would fit the bill, but I'm looking for something a little different.
Ideas?

Congrats on your decision to visit Taliesen West. If you can take the 3 hour tour. It ain't cheap but worth every penny if you are into FLW and architecture which presumably you are or you wouldn't even know to go there. ;-)

Ah, that's a shame Deb. I would be tempted to re-arrange my schedule to do it. But if that isn't possible, there's always the next time.
The 90 minute tour is good it just doesn't go into as much depth obviously. They used to do the 3 hour tour in the afternoons but have changed it to the morning and included 'tea'.
What about this place to stay?

I had already looked at the Saguaro, but it wasn't quite what I was looking for Imp. But...over the weekend I came across exactly the type of place I had in mind...the Inn at Eagle Mountain. Very close to Taliesin, a great price and good reviews!
Thanks all!
Thanks all!

Looks nice Deb. My wife and I will be in Arizona in September for a few weeks. We've been to Taliesin West 3 times now so we probably won't visit it again.
Unfortunately, the school and foundation have not fared well since his death. It may or may not survive, but if it does it will not be as what FLW would recognize. In fact, he was known to say he did not expect it to last more than 40 years beyond his death.
