I would love to get to that part of the world! So far haven't managed it, but it's definitely on the list...
As for NYC, you sure are getting seasonal weather now! The flurries yesterday were the first of the season. Even after living my whole life in this part of the world, I always get a little thrill when the first snowflakes fall. The wind yesterday though made that experience pretty dreary!
Did you get to taste a bagel yet? What did you think?

Ah well they are certainly dense. And with the typical NY "schmear" of cream cheese, no small meal despite their size! However, if you get a good one (check out Auduchamp's rec's on your other thread), chewy and delicately flavored. I like to have one on a day when I'm not sure how quickly I'll be able to have lunch: I'll eat half and wrap up the other for a bite on the go. I tend to be a bit of a purist myself, leaning towards plain cream cheese and sometimes a slice of tomato.
I'm sorry I didn't mention this earlier in your trip, but if you get a chance (and haven't been yet), do try the baked goods at Amy's Bread, on the east side of 9th Ave between 46 & 47 streets. They're renowned for their cupcakes and their bread, but IMO everything is yummy there, from granola to sandwiches! Tiny space, so maybe better for take-away...

Well, for the opposite of dense, go to the Krispy Kreme and get a glazed donut.
They earned Zagat's top score when they opened in NYC!

Hi Starrs, I keep meaning to have a donut, have not had one yet. In the past I have only ever eaten plain fresh and hot cinamon donuts. I don't like jam (jelly) but will try a glazed one.
We are on 40th between 8th and 9th so not far to Amy's - Will look out for it gg; thanks.
