I think that there are very few places that will just rent out and not ask that you buy their food and alcohol.

You might try contacting the tourist office - they may know of venues that allow this. Also you could google for all of the usual organizations (Elks, VFW etc - to see if any of them have what you are looking for).

Have you heard of the magazine "the knot"? They host message boards, both nationally and locally...go to www.theknot.com and then to "Community," then "City." You can read what others in your area have posted. If nobody else has asked what you need to know, then register (it's free and no they don't inundate you with tons of emails) for an account and ask the question yourself. Good luck!

Don't know about VFW's in Pensacola, but I got married in one in NJ (cost $150, but this was in 1995) and it had both a kitchen and a bar, and there was no problem with alcohol. We had to use their bartender ($5 a head including mixers), but we were allowed to supply our own wine, beer, and liquor. I think the bar package might even have included draft beer.

Well - for a very low budget you might not have a lot of choices. Have you googled a list of organizations in your immediate area?

Starrs idea of the women's club is good. I looked it up but couldn't get too far. We went to a reception in the "fireman's hall" up in PA. And as is said, you may not have too much choice. Our police have a social hall where we have had gatherings for a group.
And NYtraveler, in other parts of the country, it really IS possible to rent and bring your own stuff.

Our VFW was kind of run down, but it did the trick, and certainly beat the back yard in January, which would probably have been the other option.

Do you know anyone who lives in a condominium community or similar with a clubhouse? I rented mine for $50 plus cleanup and evidence of liability insurance. Can't remember exactly but I think my insurance agent arranged this quite cheaply or I was already covered by my homeowner's.

Our association was flexible and would also rent to friends of owners.
