A CAR IN VEGAS?

I will be traveling to Las Vegas at the end of April from Phoenix by way of Sedona and the Grand Canyon. I will be spending seven nights in Arizona before the last three night in Las Vegas. Would I do best to keep the car while in Las Vegas or would it be better to turn the car in once I get to Las Vegas. The daily rates for the extra days after the weekly rates are fairly high and I could save over $100 dollars by turning the car in a couple of days early. Would it be worth it or would it be more convenient to have a car while in Vegas?

Do a thread search as this topic has been covered a lot. I will tell yes (IMHO) but others will say no. You might see what kind of rate you can pick up in vegas after dropping off the car.

I vote no.. the strip is walkable and you wont spend 100 in taxis even if you hotel hop...plus they have the monorail that connects some of the hotels..

Don, it depends on what you want to do while in the city. If you're just planning on sightseeing all the casinos/hotels, then I vote "no" on a car. We found that by the time we locate the car in the cavernous parking garage, retrieve it, find the exits, fight the traffic, find new parking garage, walk long way to entrance to casino/hotel - well, it was a LOT quicker and easier (affordable too) to just hop in a taxi out front, and be dropped off in front of the next place. The bus system is even more affordable, and easy to figure out. Even if I wanted to sightsee outlying areas, I'd just get a car for the day, or sign up w/an organized trip. Just count me as one vote for the "a car is too much of a hassle in Vegas" group.....<BR>

I totally agree with Linda. Having a car in Vegas is more of a nuisance than an advantage. Everything you'll want to see is within walking, shuttle bus, monorail or (last resort)taxi distance. Try to stay center strip (Paris, Bally's, Bellagio, Caesars, Mirage etc) so you can casino hop with ease. Have fun!
