90 minutes from Miami

The wife and I are seeking a destination for a three night getaway. Of importance are relatively uncrowded beach, fishing, bicycling, natural beauty, comfortable accomodations, and good food and drink. Key West seems way too far. Please advise.

Well, a little more than 90 minutes away, but just what you're looking for, is Sanibel Island, just west of Fort Myers. The scenic route from Miami is US41. It'll take you forever. Take I-75 North from Miami to Fort Myers, get off at Daniels Parkway and go west. There will be signs pointing toward the island. For accomodations this time of year I would recommend the Holiday Inn. Nothing fancy, but it's on the beach, has a pool & tiki bar, and a restaurant on site. For a great dinner, I'd go to a place called the Riviera. We've had some really great meals there. You can rent bikes if you like, or go to the concession at Tarpon Bay in Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge, and rent a canoe or kayak. Take a drive along the main road north to Captiva Island and poke around up there. Please consider this trip. You won't regret it.

Have you considered Key Biscayne or Key Largo? Both are close by and can offer all that you're seeking.

Longboat Key and nearby beaches would be a good choice.

Along the same lines, I am looking for a place for a bachelor party that is relatively close to Miami. I would like this to be more upscale and activity oriented. Any suggestions?
