7 day metrocard
 

<BR>I will be New York for 8 days starting at the end of May.I have <BR>read a few things about an unlimited <BR>7-day metrocard.I would like a few <BR>questions answered if possible. Is <BR>there free transfers between buses <BR>and subways? Can they be used for transfers between subway/subway <BR>and bus/bus. Where would be the easiest place to pick one up, I <BR>will be staying on Central Park <BR>West and 61st. Also if there is anything else someone thinks I <BR>should know please reply, thanks.

First off, you can buy a 7-day Metrocard at any subway station. As far as transfers are concerned, they are free between buses and subways, but you must wait at least 17 minutes, I think it is, or the message will show up already been used. A lot of times, you can already get free transfers between subways, you just have to look at the subway map to see where. It's an excellent value if you plan to make more than three trips a day. <BR>The 7 day unlimited ride metrocard costs $17, the one-day version costs $4. <BR>You can use it to transfer from bus to bus, bus to subway, subway to bus. <BR>If you're transferring from one subway line to another and they are both available in the same station you simply walk to the other platform for the other train--no passing through turnstiles, no metro card involved. If you exit a subway station and then walk into another subway station, you will be charged another fare, but on an unlimited card that won't matter. <BR>You can pick one up at any subway stop, and at many newstands,drugstores, small grocery stores, candy/tobacco stores, etc. <BR>Perhaps your hotel front desk sells, them, you can ask.
